Designed for ages 2–5, this class blends exploration, stories, songs, and hands-on ocean activities to spark wonder in your little one while you make beautiful memories together. Each month we explore a different animal that calls Florida’s shores home—from sharks to snails and everything in-between!

  • What ages is Ocean Explorers designed for?
    This class is perfect for toddlers ages 2 to 5 years and their parent or caregiver.

    What happens during a typical class?
    Each session includes:

    • A 5-minute coastal exploration where toddlers pick a beach treasure to learn about

    • A song and story time featuring an ocean animal of the day

    • A hands-on activity to spark curiosity and creativity

    • A take-home packet with fun learning materials to continue the adventure at home

    Where do classes take place?
    Classes are held at family-friendly beaches around Tampa, FL. Location details are shared once you register.

    How long is each class?
    Classes last about 35 minutes—just the right amount of time for toddlers to stay engaged and happy!

    What should we bring?

    • Comfortable clothing and shoes

    • Sunscreen and hats

    • Water to stay hydrated

    What if the weather is bad?
    In case of rain or unsafe weather, we will notify families promptly and offer a make-up class or refund.

    How many families are in each class?
    We keep the group small (usually 6–8 families) to ensure a personal and safe experience for everyone.

    Is this a drop-off class?
    No, a parent or caregiver must attend and participate with their child.

    What if my child doesn’t want to participate or has a meltdown?
    That’s normal! You are welcome to step aside, take a break, and rejoin when ready. This is a flexible, low-pressure class.

    Is there a bathroom nearby?
    Yes, we choose locations with restrooms within a short walk.

    Can grandparents or nannies attend instead of a parent?
    Absolutely! Any loving caregiver is welcome.

    Will there be snacks?
    We do not provide snacks, but you are welcome to bring your own nut-free snacks for your child.

    What safety measures are in place near the water?
    We keep the group together away from the water’s edge during activities and exploration is closely supervised, but parents are responsible for their child’s safety at all times.

Signature Safari

A private coastal exploration designed for families who love nature, adventure, and making meaningful memories together. Your guided exploration will be documented with photojournalistic style imagery delivered in personalized digital gallery. (You might choose to add on a golden hour portrait session for a perfectly rounded experience!)

  • Led by a marine biologist, your family will:

    • Explore the shoreline and discover hidden treasures

    • Learn about marine life in a fun, engaging way

    • Play and connect while experiencing the wonder of the sea

    • Receive natural, photojournalistic images to treasure and share

    This is not your typical photoshoot. There’s no posing or forced smiles—just your family exploring, laughing, and learning, while we document your story authentically by the sea.

    The Signature Safari is designed for families with young children (ages 2–10), but all ages are welcome! We adapt exploration and discussion to your children’s ages and interests.

    How long does the experience last?
    About 45–60 minutes, depending on age & attention span.

    What should we bring?

    • Comfortable clothing and shoes that can get sandy/wet

    • Sunscreen, hats, water

    • A sense of adventure!

    What if it rains?
    We monitor weather closely. If we need to reschedule due to rain or storms, we will contact you as soon as possible to find a new date.

    Where does it take place?
    At a Sarasota-area beach, chosen for its wildlife, beauty, and accessibility. Exact location details will be shared after booking.

    How many photos will we receive?
    You will receive a curated digital gallery of documentary-style images (typically approximately 20), capturing your family’s exploration and moments together.

    Is this a photoshoot?
    Not in the traditional sense! We document your family authentically while you explore and learn together, capturing your genuine connection and curiosity in nature.

    It’s important to me to have printed images. Do you offer that service?
    Absolutely! It’s important to me, too. That’s why you can order prints, albums, and wall art right from your digital gallery.

Golden Hour Portraits

Our Golden Hour Portrait Sessions invite you to slow down, play, and savor the breeze while we capture the laughter and quiet moments that matter most. Styled by nature, these portraits become timeless keepsakes of your coastal adventure. (You’ll probably learn a little something about the wildlife surrounding you, too!)

Photo Safari

The photo safari is a private experience designed for those who want to learn the basics of wildlife photography while exploring the shoreline with a marine science educator and photographer. This experience is great for adults and children alike.

  • During your Photo Safari, you will:

    • Explore Sarasota’s coastline to discover marine life and hidden treasures

    • Learn wildlife photography techniques including composition, lighting, and how to capture movement

    • Practice photographing birds, crabs, shells, and the coastal landscape with guidance and live feedback

    • Deepen your connection with nature while building a creative, mindful skill you can continue at home

  • What ages is this for?
    The Photo Safari is perfect for adults, teens, or families with children ages 8+ who are interested in learning wildlife photography while exploring the coast.

    What equipment do I need?
    You can bring a DSLR or mirrorless camera, or smartphone with a camera. We will teach you to use what you have to capture beautiful wildlife and nature images.

    Do I need prior photography experience?
    Nope! This safari is designed for beginners and intermediate photographers looking to build skills in a relaxed, hands-on environment.

    How long does it last?
    Approximately 1 hour.

    What will we learn?

    • Composition and lighting techniques for wildlife and nature photography

    • How to photograph native plant and animal life

    • Tips for capturing authentic, beautiful images in nature

    Will I get photos of myself/family too?
    This safari focuses on teaching you to capture your own images, but if you come as a family, we will take a few candid shots of you during the session to document your adventure.

    What should we bring?

    • Your camera or smartphone

    • Extra batteries/charged device

    • Water, sunscreen, hats

    • Comfortable clothing for walking on the beach

    What if the weather is bad?
    We monitor the weather closely for the 48 hours before your safari and will reschedule if conditions are unsafe or if heavy rain is expected. We happily offer a make-up class or refund.

    Where does it take place?
    At a Sarasota-area beach with rich wildlife activity and natural beauty. You will receive the exact location upon booking.

    Will we be near the water?
    Yes, but we will avoid dangerous areas, and you can choose how close you get based on comfort level.

    Can my teen attend alone?
    Teens aged 14+ may attend alone with a signed waiver; otherwise, a parent must accompany them.

    Do I get to keep the photos I take?
    Yes! You will leave with your own images to share and keep.

    Do you edit the photos I take?
    This is a learning experience, so you will be responsible for your own images, but we can briefly discuss basic editing tips during the session.

    Will there be a lot of walking?
    We walk at a relaxed pace, covering short distances along the beach.

    Is this appropriate for beginners?
    Yes, the Photo Safari is designed for beginners or intermediate hobbyists looking to build skills while enjoying nature.

    What if I’m not comfortable with manual settings?
    That’s okay! We will meet you where you are, whether you want to use auto, semi-auto, or manual settings.

Happiest in, on, or around the water, Katie is an environmental educator and photographer with a passion for connecting people with nature. With a professional background in environmental education spanning zoos, aquariums, and nonprofit organizations, she brings a deep understanding of the natural world to her work, grounded in the belief that nature is one of our greatest teachers. Katie holds a master’s degree in Sustainable Tourism, which inspires her to create meaningful, eco-conscious experiences that foster connection between people and the environment. As a mom, she brings a personal understanding of how quickly time flies and how vital it is to create space for children and families to connect with each other and with nature.
