Triton’s Celebration of Life
I joined The Tilly Project as an end-of-life pet photographer last year at the suggestion of a DVM friend from college, and since that time I’ve had the opportunity to shoot wonderful furry family members like Triton.
Triton was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer when his dog mom decided it was time for a celebration of life session. And she picked an incredible time to do this shoot, when Triton was still acting “like himself” most days. She told me that he is an intuitive, inquisitive, bright pup and wanted to capture that during his session.
While you can do a celebration of life session at any time with a senior or terminally ill pet, it can be beneficial for your memory of them to be a happy one (like with Triton here!) captured on “film”.
In fact, it was difficult at times for Triton to slow down enough! But don’t worry, with some treats, toys, and attention from dog trainer Ashley, we were able to capture some precious moments of Triton. Even with his brother, Zeus!
It can be very difficult to take the step to book a session for your pet nearing the end of their time this side of the rainbow bridge (I know from experience), but my wish for you when the time comes is that you do the hard thing. And my goal is for you to have an easy, enjoyable experience (your pet, too!)
