SWEETER THAN CANDY CANES

I love Christmas. Like a lot. That’s why I was so excited when Melissa chose me to take her family’s Christmas photos. And the icing on top? Her kids’ names are Holly and Nicholas!! I mean, if I wasn’t in the holiday spirit before (which…let’s be real…I totally was) I was BOUND to be feeling the joy after this photo shoot!

Holly and Nicholas were ADORABLE. Holly was a huge helper, placing blankets and pillows and then cleaning them up when the time came, she also loved getting her photo taken. Nicholas was…well...a TODDLER! He wanted to run and throw rocks and be anywhere except on the blanket getting his picture taken. I, myself, have young nieces and nephews and know that’s just how it goes! And that’s why I do what I do, I capture natural moments. Of course, I’ll do my best to capture that Christmas-Card style photo for you, but we all have the most fun and get some of the best pictures when we just let kids be kids and I stay nimble to capture them at their most candid moments.

Now, it was just a happy little accident that Nicholas happened to find my end-of-session candy cane treat. Again, he’s a toddler, he wandered around and peeked into my cart, pulling out my little “bribery” candy. And you know what? I’m so happy he did! Because just LOOK at his face! I don’t think I could have gotten that look of pure joy any other way.

Seriously, these two kiddos were adorable and I had a great time breaking a sweat (when just 10 minutes earlier I had exclaimed how cold I was!) rolling around on the ground capturing their most real moments. I look forward to working with Melissa, her kiddos, and “grandma” again.
